Traditionally Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family, friends, loved ones, or just be by yourself to reflect on your blessings! While things have been touch and go financially, I try and always look at things from a glass is half full attitude. Sometimes it is tough to do, but I give it a try anyway!
Last year was quite different from all others, being just two-and-a-half short months after the September 11th disaster. I spent Thanksgiving with friends of over 30 years. It seemed like for the first time in my life I knew what Thanksgiving was really all about. We went around the table, each sharing what they were thankful for. Living in NYC it was colored by the events of 911. My friend's daughter's friend is a NYC firefighter and his memories were a bit more vivid than anything the rest of us were experiencing. The New York City Fire Department lost the most, and they were working day and night at the Ground Zero recovery effort. It seemed to me that the closeness everyone felt was almost like a spiritual experience. In all honesty, I had never experienced anything quite like it in my entire life. I sincerely hope that I don't forget that feeling when I am tempted to feel just a touch sorry for myself! These days, that is not hard to do!
This Thanksgiving I would like to take a moment to remember those lost and those missing their loved ones who would have been sitting across the table from them. This is a loss they will live with for the rest of their lives. Please remember them in your prayers!
On a lighter note... Those of you who have visited any of my other Holidays in CyberSpace sites know that it is customary for me to introduce each holiday page by sharing a little of my own personal thoughts and/or an experience or two from my past. Thanksgiving is one holiday that I look upon with mixed emotions. I would like to share a piece of my past with you and hope that sometime in your life you have enjoyed a truly selfless, honest, and unconditional friendship as well. The friendship I am about to give tribute to is still very special to me! And it will live on in my heart for the rest of my days, as it made me a better, more understanding person.

In fondest memory . . .
Thanksgiving means different things to different people. Some can count their blessings and give thanks to G_d for what they received the previous year, while others feel sorry for themselves and feel like victims for the lack of what they think they should have received, or the misfortunes that have been bestowed upon them after all life is not easy!.I look back upon Thanksgiving with sad but fond memories as I remember the time I spent with my best friend Patricia (Pat or Muzzie to her friends) Mazzoni. Pat passed away just 3 days before Thanksgiving in 1986 after a one-year battle with Cancer. She was the most honest, unselfish and bravest person I have ever been privileged to meet in my entire life.
I was not only lucky enough to have known her and her family, but was blessed to have shared more than a 20-year friendship with Pat. She was one of the most giving people that I have ever been blessed to have known. I am still in awe to have just been with her through her courageous battle with Cancer and to have seen firsthand how one can know they are dying and still be gracious and giving.
I had hoped by now I would be able to put up a tribute page for Pat, but after 16 years I realize this will probably never happen, as the pain is still too deep, and I think I would rather let her live on in the privacy of my heart of hearts.
~ Happy Thanksgiving in Heaven Pat ~
I have no doubt that you are there watching over me!By custom, Thanksgiving Day is celebrated by parades, sports, families and friends sharing a holiday meal and other cheerful activities. While this may be traditional and customary to some, there are many who are not spending their holidays participating in such holiday treats and for those I would like to offer a bit of Thanksgiving here on the web. As you already know, almost anything goes here in CyberSpace, and we can spend our holidays any way we choose to. Therefore, I will try and provide something for everyone.
Last but not least. . . Like always, I will be gathering memorabilia, resources, music, graphics, pictures where applicable, and more. If you have anything to contribute or know of an addition that would be appropriate please write to me and I will be glad to review them and feature them in this page. I look forward to hearing from you. Now. . . Let the festivities begin!
G_d bless us all, and G_d Bless America!
